GTA 6 Release Time: When It Unlocks in Your Time Zone

The countdown above runs to midnight US Eastern on release day. That is our anchor, chosen so the clock has something to count to. It is not an unlock time, because Rockstar has not published one.

What Rockstar has actually said

Three things, and only three:

• A release date. Announced on the Rockstar Newswire on 6 November 2025 and repeated by Take-Two ever since. It is the date shown in the countdown, and the full history is on our release date page.
• A preload window. Rockstar Support lists preloading from local midnight on November 12, 2026. Details on the preload page.
• Two platforms. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no other platform announced. See platforms.

Nothing official gives an hour, a time zone or a per-region table for the game itself unlocking. Any page that shows you a “confirmed” unlock time in your city right now is either guessing or copying someone who guessed.

The two ways console launches usually unlock

When Rockstar does publish a time, it will almost certainly take one of two shapes. Knowing them in advance means you can read the announcement correctly in five seconds.

Local midnight. The game unlocks when the clock strikes midnight on release day wherever you are. New Zealand goes first, Hawaii goes last, and the whole world gets the same date on its own calendar. This is how Rockstar handled pre-orders in June 2026, and it matches the preload wording. It is the more common pattern for a boxed-and-digital console launch.

One global moment. A single instant, usually stated in one time zone and converted for everyone else, so players in Sydney and Los Angeles start at the same second. Publishers choose this when they want the world to start together, and it means some regions unlock in the evening or early morning of a different local date.

Publishers have used both patterns, and neither the preload timing nor the pre-order timing binds Rockstar to either one. That is why we will not convert a time for you until there is a time to convert.

No early access has been announced

The Ultimate Edition includes the Ultimate Upgrade, per Rockstar’s edition material. It has not been described as unlocking earlier, and no edition, pre-order tier or platform has been given a head start. Pre-order bonus content is described as unlocking at launch for either edition. If an early-access window is ever announced, it will come from Rockstar and appear here with the source.

How to know the exact minute

Three official places, checked in this order:

1. Rockstar Newswire, where every date announcement for this game has been posted first.
2. Rockstar Support, which is where the practical launch details, editions and the preload window live.
3. Your platform store, which will show a countdown on the game’s page once a time is set.

We read all three daily. When a time is published, this page states it, converts it for the major time zones with the source linked, and the update date at the top changes. Until then, the honest answer to “what time does GTA 6 come out” is that nobody outside Rockstar knows, and we would rather tell you that than make one up.
