GTA 6 Vehicles — What Has Actually Been Shown

Cars, bikes, boats, airboats and aircraft all appear in official GTA 6 footage. Here is what is shown, described without invented model names.

Vehicles are the one subject where fan sites go wrong fastest, because it is very tempting to look at a car in a trailer and give it a name. Rockstar has not published a vehicle list for Grand Theft Auto VI. Everything below is described by type, not by model, and we will keep it that way until there is something official to quote.

Confirmed by Rockstar

Rockstar has said little about vehicles in writing. What it has said is about craft rather than content: the studio has spoken publicly about the depth of its vehicle handling work, including bringing people with genuine racing experience onto the team. That tells you driving has been taken seriously. It tells you nothing about how many cars there are or what they are called.

Rockstar has also confirmed the platforms the game runs on and that its extended gameplay video was captured in-game on PlayStation 5 — worth stating here only because it means the driving footage people have analysed is real gameplay rather than a pre-rendered sequence.

Seen in official trailers and gameplay footage

Across Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and the extended gameplay video, these vehicle types are plainly visible:

  • Cars, across a wide spread — convertibles and older American iron, modern sedans, SUVs, work vans, and heavily modified street cars. Vice City street-car culture is a visible theme rather than an incidental detail.
  • Motorcycles, including road bikes and off-road dirt bikes.
  • Boats, in more than one register: small fast craft, working vessels, and pleasure boats rafted together on sandbars in the Keys.
  • Flat-bottomed wetland craft driving across the sawgrass channels of the marsh country.
  • Helicopters, including in an airborne pursuit over the wetlands and in police response.
  • Fixed-wing aircraft, including a small private plane.
  • Police vehicles, cars and air support both. See police and crime.

Our read: the spread of types is the point. Leonida as Rockstar has shown it is a state where the interesting travel is as often by water as by road, and the footage is built to make that obvious.

What has been reported about stealing and driving them

Rockstar’s extended gameplay video has been widely described as showing more involved vehicle theft than the series has used before — including a difference between older vehicles and newer, better-secured ones, and an on-screen interaction for breaking into them. We have not frame-verified this ourselves, so we present it as reported rather than as confirmed, and it is logged in our fact-check file. If it holds up, it is a meaningful change from the near-instant hotwire of previous games.

How this compares to earlier Grand Theft Auto games

Grand Theft Auto V shipped with a large vehicle roster spanning land, sea and air, and grew it substantially through online updates over the following decade. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, back in 2002, was the game that made boats and a seaplane feel central to a Grand Theft Auto map rather than optional.

Grand Theft Auto VI’s footage suggests it is pulling hard on that Vice City instinct — water as a primary way of getting around, not a novelty. That is our reading of the footage. Rockstar has not characterised it.

Not yet known

  • Any vehicle name, manufacturer or class list.
  • Whether wetland airboats are player-drivable or scripted to missions.
  • Whether there is a customisation system, and how deep it goes.
  • Whether vehicles can be stored, insured, or owned in any persistent way.
  • Whether aircraft are broadly available or restricted to specific missions.
  • Anything at all about vehicle stats, top speeds or handling numbers.

How this site will track it at launch

At launch we will build out a verified vehicle section the slow way: only vehicles we can find in-game, with the names the game itself uses. Spawn points, dealership locations and anything worth pinning will go straight onto the interactive map under the vehicle category, alongside our locations index and the collectibles hub.

Until then, this page stays a list of types, not a list of names. If you want to know what else the footage shows, activities covers the things you can apparently do with all this, and the Leonida Keys region page covers the water side of the map.

No leaked material was used here. No vehicle model name has been invented.

Frequently asked questions

How many vehicles are in GTA 6?

Rockstar has never published a vehicle count. Any number you have seen is someone's estimate or a tally of trailer sightings, not an official figure.

Are boats and airboats in GTA 6?

Boats of several kinds are clearly visible in official footage, and flat-bottomed wetland craft appear in the marsh scenes. Whether the wetland craft are player-drivable has not been officially stated.

Can you fly planes and helicopters?

Aircraft including helicopters appear in official footage, including in a pursuit. Rockstar has not published a list of flyable aircraft classes.

What are the vehicle names in GTA 6?

We do not list in-game model names, because Rockstar has not published a vehicle list. Names circulating online are either carried over from older games or invented.

Has Rockstar said anything about driving?

Rockstar has talked publicly about the seriousness of its vehicle handling work, including hiring people with real racing backgrounds. It has not published handling specifications.
