Who Rockstar says Lucia is
Lucia Caminos is the second lead of Grand Theft Auto VI and, going by Rockstar’s own material, the more deliberate of the pair. The official bio opens on her father teaching her to fight before she could really walk, and it closes on a worldview that is entirely transactional: connections and assets are what count. In between sits a stretch inside Leonida Penitentiary, framed as the price of protecting her family rather than as a career in crime.
What she wants is specific. Rockstar describes her chasing the comfortable life her mother has been imagining since the family’s Liberty City days — a detail that quietly ties this game back to the wider series map without promising anything about it.
Where she is tied to on the map
Rockstar has not assigned Lucia a home region the way it assigns Jason to the Keys, so the regions listed here are our placement, not Rockstar’s. Vice City is where her ambitions point and where most of the footage featuring her is set; the Keys follow from her partnership with Jason Duval. Treat both as context, not as confirmed addresses.
The one hard geographic fact in her bio is the penitentiary, and even that has no published location. We have deliberately not created a map pin for it.
What the official footage shows
Trailer 1 introduced her first, in a prison-adjacent framing, and Trailer 2 gives her much more screen time alongside Jason. In Rockstar’s extended gameplay video she is the one driving away from a bank job while Jason shoots from the back, and the two swap roles as the sequence goes on. That is a useful demonstration of tone: she is written as the person who keeps moving when a plan collapses.
Both trailers lean heavily on phone-shot, social-feed framing and on beachfront Vice City as a backdrop. Our read: Lucia is the character Rockstar uses to connect that surface-level city to the money underneath it.
Relationship to the rest of the cast
The official synopsis makes Jason and Lucia co-dependent by design — the game is about the two of them rather than a trio of separate careers. Rockstar has also said the pair stay partners regardless of how you play them. Beyond Jason, the only cast member with an obvious structural link to her is Raul Bautista, a bank robber described as recruiting talent for bigger jobs; the bank sequence in official footage makes that connection easy to infer, though Rockstar has not spelled it out.

- Whether the penitentiary appears in the game at all.
- Any mechanic unique to Lucia.
- Who voices her — no cast list has been published, so we print no name.
- How much of the story is hers versus Jason’s.

Where Lucia Caminos fits on the map
Regions
- Vice CityLeonida's neon metropolis: Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the VC Port and the nightlife at the centre of the GTA 6 story.
- Leonida KeysThe tropical archipelago south of Vice City: casual bars, loaded boats, and some of the most dangerous water in the state.
Locations
- Vice City Beachfront StripThe neon waterfront shown throughout official GTA 6 footage, in the part of the city Rockstar calls Ocean Beach.
- In-Universe Phone ClipsTrailer 1 is cut around fake social clips filmed in-world — the game's sharpest running joke and its clearest thesis about Leonida.
These are connections between this page and the parts of Leonida we cover, drawn from officially released material. They are not a claim about missions or story beats.
Frequently asked questions
Is Lucia the first female protagonist in a Grand Theft Auto game?
She is the first confirmed female lead of a mainline Grand Theft Auto title. Earlier games in the series let you create or choose female characters in online modes, but the story leads of the numbered single-player games have all been men.
What was Lucia in prison for?
Rockstar's bio says she did time at Leonida Penitentiary over protecting her family. It does not spell out the offence, the sentence or how long she served.
Where is Lucia from?
Her bio ties her mother's ambitions back to their Liberty City days, which points at a move south rather than a Leonida childhood. Rockstar has not published a birthplace.
Do you play as Lucia and Jason equally?
Rockstar has confirmed you play both. It has not published a split, and developer comments suggest some missions lock you to one of them on purpose.
