Leonida's neon metropolis: Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the VC Port and the nightlife at the centre of the GTA 6 story.
On this page7 sections
Vice City is the part of Leonida Rockstar has been talking about since the announcement, and it is now also the part with the most official detail attached to it. The studio’s own site went from a single mood-setting phrase to a paragraph that names actual neighbourhoods, and its edition material added named businesses on top of that. This page separates what Rockstar has published from what we are reading into it.
What Rockstar’s official site says
In the Only in Leonida section of the official Grand Theft Auto VI site, the Vice City panel is headed with a line about excess and argues that the decade has moved on from the 1980s while the city has not stopped being, in Rockstar’s phrasing, the sun and fun capital of America. The paragraph beneath it does something the studio rarely does this far from a launch: it names districts.
Four are given outright.
- Ocean Beach — described through pastel art deco hotels and bright white sand.
- Little Cuba — described through its busy panaderías, a specific enough detail to establish the district has a Cuban-American character rather than a generic one.
- Tisha-Wocka flea market — described through knock-off and bootleg goods.
- VC Port — presented as a cruise-ship hub on a global scale.
Rockstar’s top-level framing for the game is Vice City, USA, with a criminal conspiracy that runs across the state of Leonida. A further set of place names appears in the studio’s edition and pre-order material rather than in the region copy: the Ocean View Hotel, Washington Beach, Stockyard, Shore Drive and Southside Vice City, alongside named businesses including Rideout Customs, Sara’s Unisex Salon, the Stock 305 clothing store, the Electric Fang tattoo parlour and the Paradise Garage. Only Southside Vice City is tied to the city by name in that copy. We treat those names as official and their exact placement as unstated.
Landscape and atmosphere in the official screenshots
Rockstar writes its own image descriptions on the official site, and they are an unusually direct record of what each screenshot contains. For Vice City they describe, among others: a jet passing over a Vice City sign; a couple on a balcony above a pool, trees and the beach; a street view with palm trees and a basketball court; a lifeguard stand surrounded by people doing entirely separate things, including sunbathing, jogging, walking hand in hand, sitting on a phone and throwing a football; a night skyline with a ferris wheel and moving traffic; a club interior with pole dancers and banknotes in the air; an arrest in which one bystander takes a selfie while another poses on the patrol car; and a road where dirt bikes and ATVs are being ridden through traffic.
Those are observations, drawn from Rockstar’s own captions. Our read: the city is being built around bystanders rather than around the player’s car, and the arrest screenshot tells you the satire about filming everything is a systems idea, not just a trailer edit.
What you’ll likely do here
Expectation, not confirmation. Rockstar has not published an activity list for Vice City.
The dirt bikes and ATVs in city traffic, the Vapid Ganado pickup and Dinka Enduro motorcycle parked at Jason’s safehouse, and the boats moving past the skyline all point at a much wider vehicle spread within the city limits than GTA 5’s Los Santos opened with. Rockstar’s edition copy names a mod shop, a salon, a clothing store and a tattoo parlour, which is a strong signal that personalisation and shopping are real activities rather than menu screens. The same copy describes a garage where stolen goods can be fenced, and a raid on the compound of a Southside Vice City gang — two of the very few officially worded gameplay loops we have, and both relevant to weapons and combat.
The arrest screenshot, plus an official image of a police boat and helicopter closing on a speedboat, are the clearest hints we have about police and crime here. And with two playable leads, expect the city to be where most protagonist switching happens, because it is where both circles overlap.
Characters tied to Vice City
Rockstar’s own bios anchor three parts of the cast here. Boobie Ike is a Vice City figure who turned street success into real estate, a strip club and a recording studio. Dre’Quan Priest is a former street dealer whose actual goal was always the music business, and who runs Only Raw Records with Boobie. Real Dimez — Bae-Luxe and Roxy — are signed to that label and chasing a second hit after an early single with a local rapper. Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval both move through the city, though Jason’s own base is further south.
Real-world inspiration
Vice City has always been a Miami analogue and the official copy does nothing to hide it: art deco hotels, a Cuban-American district described through its bakeries, a cruise port and a flea market full of counterfeits are all recognisably South Florida. What Rockstar has not done is claim a one-to-one map, and neither will we. More in Leonida vs Florida and Vice City then and now.
Vice City locations on our map
- Only Raw Records — the label Rockstar names outright.
- Boobie Ike’s Vice City Club — the strip club in his officially described portfolio.
- Vice City Beachfront Strip — the boulevard-and-towers footage the trailers keep returning to.
- In-Universe Phone Clips — the vertical-video layer that carries most of the satire.
What we’ll add at launch
Once the real map exists we will re-pin every Vice City entry, split this page into per-district pages for Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the VC Port and anything else the game names, and replace our working labels with in-game street names. Until then, see the interactive map, the location index, everything confirmed so far, or the official trailers.

Frequently asked questions
Which Vice City neighbourhoods has Rockstar actually named?
The official Only in Leonida section names Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the Tisha-Wocka flea market and the VC Port. Other names such as Washington Beach, Stockyard, Shore Drive and Southside Vice City appear in Rockstar's edition and pre-order material rather than in the region description.
Is Vice City bigger than Los Santos?
Rockstar's co-head of development Rob Nelson told a creator preview in August 2026 that the city is around twice the size of Los Santos and that the built-up area outside it is far larger than GTA 5's equivalent. That is a developer statement reported by the press, not a figure published on Rockstar's own site.
Has Rockstar released a Vice City street map?
No. No street map, district boundary map or in-game minimap has been published, which is why every pin we place in the city is an approximate placeholder on our own illustration.
Are the art deco hotels the same ones from the 1986 Vice City?
Rockstar has not said that. The official copy describes pastel art deco hotels on Ocean Beach; whether any specific building is a deliberate callback is our reading, not a confirmed fact.
Can you go inside the clubs and shops?
Rockstar's edition material describes several businesses as places you visit and use, including a mod shop, a salon, a clothing store and a tattoo parlour. It has not published a full interior list.
