Leonida is not all coastline. The northern end of the state is forest, elevation and back roads, and it is the one region whose official description names specific things to do rather than a mood. When we first wrote this entry we were inferring a mountain from a region name. We are no longer inferring — Rockstar has published the detail.

What official material shows

The official Mount Kalaga description calls the area a national landmark against the state’s northern border and says it offers prime hunting, prime fishing and off-road trails. It describes the surrounding backwoods as home to hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals living far from the government’s attention. Rockstar’s own screenshot captions for the region — which consistently call it Mount Kalaga National Park — describe four people riding dirt bikes through mud with an ATV jumping behind them; two people walking through the woods carrying rifles; a winding road running between two steep, green-topped hills; a news helicopter over a tree-filled ridge; a cougar stalking deer at a stream; and somebody kayaking toward a bridge in a life vest. Rockstar’s edition material separately describes an off-road buggy as suited to the Kalaga backwoods.

Those are observations from official material. Our read: this region has been designed as the state’s activity zone, and the cougar-and-deer image suggests the wildlife is a system rather than scenery.

Why it matters for gameplay

Expectation, though closer to firm ground than most entries on this site.

Hunting and fishing are named by Rockstar itself, which makes them about as safe as pre-launch activities get — but the studio has published no mechanics, no equipment, no tracking system and no rewards, so how they play remains unknown. Off-road trails plus an officially recommended buggy, dirt bikes and an ATV make this the strongest candidate on the map for off-road vehicles and, plausibly, trail racing. The kayak suggests the rivers are usable. And wildlife here has at least a predator and a prey species shown behaving toward each other.

Connections

This is the main entry for Mount Kalaga, and pairs with the openly speculative high lookout. The region’s status in the wider map is covered in everything confirmed so far, and its unlikely elevation for a Florida analogue in Leonida vs Florida.

How to find it at launch

Not yet. Rockstar has named no trail, trailhead, peak, ranger station, town or road inside the park, so there is nothing specific to navigate toward. Our pin is an approximate placeholder near the region centre on our own illustrated base map. At launch we will re-pin it and split this single entry into the actual trails, fishing spots, roads and viewpoints the park contains — this pin is a stand-in for a whole network.

Status & evidence

Marked confirmed, upgraded from a trailer sighting, because the trails, the hunting, the fishing and the national-landmark status are all stated outright in Rockstar’s own region copy rather than inferred from footage. What is not confirmed is anything spatial: the position of this pin, the layout of the trail network, and whether the park is a full activity region or a scenic border. We have invented no trails, peaks, cabins or secrets, and nothing here draws on leaked, datamined or community-mapping material.
