Every part of the Leonida map Rockstar has officially confirmed — six regions, named districts, named businesses — separated from the guesswork.

Key facts
- The setting is a state, not a city. Rockstar’s framing is Vice City, USA, inside the state of Leonida, with a criminal conspiracy running across it.
- Six regions are named officially: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga. Each now has a written description, not just a name.
- Four Vice City districts are named: Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the Tisha-Wocka flea market and the VC Port.
- At least one business per region is named or described, including Only Raw Records and the Allied Crystal sugar refinery.
- No official map exists. No boundaries, no street map, no scale drawing, no coordinates.
- No area figure has been published. A developer comparison exists; a measurement does not.
- Two protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, plus six further named characters.
- Nothing here comes from leaks, datamines or community mapping.
There is a lot of writing about the Grand Theft Auto VI map and very little of it distinguishes between what Rockstar has published and what the internet has decided. This guide does. Everything in the first half comes from official Rockstar material. Everything after that is labelled as interpretation.
The state: Leonida
Rockstar’s own framing is that the game is set in Vice City, USA, with a conspiracy that stretches across the state of Leonida. That is the top-level fact: the map is a state, and Vice City is one region inside it rather than the whole of it.
Leonida is a fictional analogue of a real sun-belt state, the way San Andreas stood in for California across GTA 5 and San Andreas before it. Rockstar has not published a state map, a scale or a boundary, so anyone showing you a filled-in outline is showing you an illustration. We go into the real-world parallels separately in Leonida vs Florida.
The six regions Rockstar names — and now describes
For a long stretch after the reveal, the six region names were the whole of the confirmed record. That changed once Rockstar expanded its official site: each region now has a heading, a one-line hook and a paragraph of description, plus screenshots that Rockstar captions itself.
Vice City
Rockstar’s copy argues the decade has moved on from the 1980s while the city remains the sun and fun capital of America, and then does something unusual — it names districts. Ocean Beach is described through pastel art deco hotels and white sand. Little Cuba is described through its bakeries. The Tisha-Wocka flea market is described through bootleg goods. The VC Port is described as a cruise hub. See the Vice City region page and Vice City then and now.
Leonida Keys
A tropical archipelago where life is easy rather than flashy — casual dress, well-stocked bars — with an explicit warning that the islands sit on the doorstep of some of the most dangerous water in America. Officially tied to Jason Duval, his housebound friend Cal Hampton and smuggler Brian Heder. See Leonida Keys.
Grassrivers
Described as an untamable jewel of the state where you never know what is beneath the surface. Rockstar names alligators as the most famous attraction and states there are deadlier predators and stranger discoveries among the mangroves. See Grassrivers.
Port Gellhorn
Leonida’s forgotten coast: cheap motels, shut-down attractions and empty strip malls, with a replacement economy Rockstar characterises through malt liquor, painkillers and truck-stop energy drinks. Connected to bank robber Raul Bautista. See Port Gellhorn.
Ambrosia
The industrial heart of the state, where the Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs and the local biker gang provides almost everything else. See Ambrosia.
Mount Kalaga
A national landmark on the northern border offering hunting, fishing and off-road trails, with backwoods described as home to mystics and paranoid radicals. Rockstar’s own screenshot captions call it Mount Kalaga National Park. See Mount Kalaga.
Two caveats. Rockstar has never said these are the only regions, so six is a confirmed minimum. And it has never said how they sit relative to each other — region adjacency is completely unpublished.
Named places and businesses
Officially named in-world entities are still rare, and that rarity makes the short list trustworthy.
From the region copy: the Allied Crystal sugar refinery in Ambrosia, plus the four Vice City districts above. From the character material: Only Raw Records, Dre’Quan Priest’s label; Boobie Ike’s strip club and recording studio; and Brian Heder’s boat yard in the Keys.
A further set of names appears in Rockstar’s edition and pre-order material rather than in the map copy: the Ocean View Hotel, Washington Beach, Stockyard, Shore Drive, Southside Vice City, Lake Leonida, Watson Bay, Gambit Bay, and businesses including Rideout Customs, Sara’s Unisex Salon, the Stock 305 clothing store, the Electric Fang tattoo parlour and the Paradise Garage. These names are official. Their placement on the map mostly is not — Rockstar attaches them to bonus items, not to regions. If you see a confident map of where each one sits, that is somebody’s guess.
What the trailers and screenshots establish
Official footage and Rockstar’s own captions support a handful of structural claims without much interpretation:
- The world spans coastal city, island chain, wetlands, a declining resort coast, industrial interior and forested high ground. It is not one biome with variations.
- Crowd and traffic density in the city is a clear step up. One official beach caption describes six or more separate behaviours in a single frame.
- Water is a first-class environment: open sea, reef, shallow flats and swamp channel all appear and are handled differently. Divers, kayaks, jet skis, speedboats and airboats are all in official imagery — see vehicles.
- Wildlife is active rather than decorative: alligators surrounding a boat, a cougar stalking deer, an iguana on a pavement. See wildlife.
- The satire runs on in-universe phone clips, including the shop-aisle alligator that became the reveal’s signature gag.
How this compares with previous Grand Theft Auto maps
Limited to well-known, checkable facts. GTA 5 shipped in 2013 with Los Santos and Blaine County inside the state of San Andreas, and three playable protagonists — the first time the series used three. GTA VI has two, Jason and Lucia, and Lucia is the first female lead in a mainline entry since the top-down games let you pick a character. The original Vice City game shipped in 2002 and was set in 1986; the new one is explicitly modern, which is why Rockstar’s own copy opens by saying the decade has moved on.
On size, Rockstar has published no area figure for any of its maps, including GTA 5. A comparison attributed to Rockstar’s co-head of development in August 2026 creator previews described Leonida as roughly twice GTA 5’s map and three times the playable area of Red Dead Redemption 2. That is a developer statement reported by the press, not a number on Rockstar’s site — we take it apart properly in GTA 6 map size vs GTA 5.
What is still not confirmed
This is the part most guides skip.
- No published map or boundaries. No region adjacency, no coastline outline, no scale.
- No street names anywhere in Leonida, including Vice City.
- No named settlements inside Grassrivers, Ambrosia, Port Gellhorn or Mount Kalaga.
- No interior list. Several businesses are named; none is confirmed as freely enterable.
- No confirmed Easter eggs. Everything in our Easter eggs hub is a sighting or labelled speculation — see Easter eggs spotted in the trailers.
- No published activity systems. Hunting and fishing are named for Mount Kalaga; how they work is not described. See activities and police and crime.
How to read our map
Our interactive map runs on an original stylised illustration of a Florida-like coastline, not on anything Rockstar has released. Every pin position is an approximate placeholder chosen so entries are findable. Each pin carries a status badge: confirmed, trailer sighting, rumor or speculation. Confirmed means Rockstar showed it or said it — nothing else earns that badge, and a confirmed badge never means the position is right.

Frequently asked questions
How many regions does the GTA 6 map have?
Rockstar's official site invites players to explore six named areas — Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga. It has never said these are the only regions, so treat six as the confirmed minimum rather than a total.
Which Vice City neighbourhoods are officially named?
Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the Tisha-Wocka flea market and the VC Port are named in Rockstar's own region description. Further names such as Washington Beach, Stockyard, Shore Drive, Southside Vice City and Lake Leonida appear in the studio's edition and pre-order material without a stated region.
Has Rockstar released the actual game map?
No. No in-game map, minimap image, region boundary or street map has been published. Every map you can look at today, including ours, is an illustration.
How big is the map?
Rockstar has not published an area figure. A developer comparison given to a creator preview in August 2026 described it as roughly twice the size of GTA 5's map. We unpack what that does and does not mean in our map size guide.
Do you use leaked information?
No. Nothing on this site comes from the 2022 leak, from datamines, or from community mapping projects presented as fact. Where we are inferring, the page says so and the map pin carries a status badge.
