Alongside the neon waterfront, official Grand Theft Auto VI material spends real time on a very different Leonida: single-storey motels with signage bigger than the buildings, strip malls with more parking than customers, and streets where the most expensive thing in frame is a pickup truck. It is the visual shorthand for a place that had a better decade once — and unusually, Rockstar now says so in its own words.
What official material shows
The official Port Gellhorn description calls the region Leonida’s forgotten coast, lists cheap motels, shut-down attractions and empty strip malls, and says a new economy has replaced the tourism — one the studio characterises through malt liquor, painkillers and truck stop energy drinks. Rockstar’s own screenshot captions for the region describe a motel exterior with its vacancy sign lit at night; a club parking lot under lit cabaret signage with a few cars, people by the door and somebody pushing a shopping trolley; two men in a room full of grow lights, one holding a shovel and one a baseball bat; a woman handing a package through a car window; and a bonfire gathering.
Those are observations. Our read: the motels are not background. Rockstar built the region’s entire pitch around what happens in and around them.
Why it matters for gameplay
Expectation, not confirmation.
Motel rows in this series tend to carry safehouses, meeting points, low-rent rewards and the sort of errands that do not need a helicopter. Rockstar’s own region copy suggests arriving on a dirt bike and warns you to hold onto your wallet, which points at off-road vehicles and at hostile ambient behaviour. The grow lights and the package handover put small-scale dealing in frame, relevant to police and crime and weapons and combat. None of that has been announced; see activities for the broader picture.
Connections
This is the clearest published face of Port Gellhorn, the region Rockstar ties to bank robber Raul Bautista. It pairs with our speculative waterfront docks entry, and it is the example we use for decay being given the same detail as the skyline in Easter eggs spotted in the trailers.
How to find it at launch
There is no street name to look for yet. Rockstar has published nothing about Port Gellhorn’s internal layout, and even the region’s position relative to Vice City is unstated — our map places it toward the northwest of the state purely as a placeholder. The pin sits near the region centre on our own illustrated base map. At launch we will re-pin it, name the road, and break the motels, the cabaret club and the strip malls out into separate entries once they can be found rather than guessed at.
Status & evidence
Marked trailer sighting. The motel imagery is real and the regional decline is now officially described, but assigning any particular motel shot to Port Gellhorn specifically remains our call — Rockstar has not narrated its footage shot by shot. The title is descriptive and ours. No leaked or datamined material was used, and no timestamps are cited.

Frequently asked questions
Has Rockstar confirmed the motels?
The official Port Gellhorn description names cheap motels, shut-down attractions and empty strip malls directly, and one official screenshot caption describes a motel exterior with its vacancy sign lit at night. The general feature is official; this specific pin is still our label.
Is Port Gellhorn a faded resort town?
Rockstar's own copy calls it Leonida's forgotten coast and a once-popular vacation spot, so yes. We previously avoided that wording because we could not source it; the official description now supports it.
Does the town have a name for this street?
No. Rockstar has not published a single street, district or business name inside Port Gellhorn, so the title on this page is descriptive and ours.
